- Pinpointer — full traceability in real time
When Glemo Fastmark took on the earthworks alongside the E6 at Stenungsund, large volumes of material had to be handled and accounted for. Traceability was decisive — which is why Glemo chose to run the entire bulk material flow through Pinpointer.
A broad contractor with a commercial niche
Glemo Fastmark is a small, broad contracting firm that has carved out a niche serving commercial customers. The jobs include warehouses, foundations, earthworks and a fair share of car washes — less residential work.
"We do pretty much everything, really, but we've niched ourselves towards commercial customers."
The brief
Glemo was responsible for the earthworks on the site alongside the E6, in connection with the new buildings being put up there. The work covered water and drainage, exterior concrete and general installations — the adaptations around the new building. A central part of the job was taking care of the material and making sure it was properly accounted for.
"The material had to be dealt with — so that was an issue. Traceability matters today, which is why we're using Pinpointer here."
Around 13,000 tonnes — classified by content
The work ran for about six months and involved around 13,000 tonnes of material. The material was classified by content. Some of it required remediation — there was oil spill from trucks that had stood on site — and that material went for treatment. The rest went on for drying.
Why Pinpointer
Glemo needed a system with traceability and easy follow-up — being able to see where the material goes, how much and when, and that everything is handled properly along the way.
"You want to be able to see where, how much and when the material goes where it's supposed to. Does it look reasonable? Are the drivers doing what they should? Is the machine operator loading out the way it's intended? Then Pinpointer was a perfect tool."
From bucket to receipt — in four steps
The flow is straightforward and runs all the way from bucket to receipt.
The operator picks truck and material
In the app, the machine operator chooses which truck is being loaded and what type of material it is.
The driver gets the load on the phone
The driver gets a notification about what's on the bed and where to take it, and approves the load.
Weighing at the tip
At the receiving facility the load is weighed and the driver scans the receipt directly with the phone.
Load closed in the app
The driver enters the details in the app and approves the load as complete — linked to the right project and fraction.
Traceability on paper — real-time picture in everyday work
For Glemo, traceability was the primary thing — it had to be there. But the real-time picture turned out to be just as valuable day-to-day: being able to see directly how much is being moved per day and per week, and following along even when you're not on site.
"It's especially important to know how much is leaving per day, per week. Getting that in real time is gold."
Full traceability per load
Every load is linked to fraction, truck and destination — from bucket to receipt.
Real-time picture of the flow
How much is moved per day and per week is visible immediately — without being on site.
No question marks towards the client
All documentation is in place — questions are answered with a few clicks.
Time saved through control
Less time chasing details after the fact — the control is there straight away.
Towards the client, the documentation meant no question marks came up — everything was accounted for.
"Hugely important. There are never any question marks."
And the time saving follows from the control:
"We save time because we get control straight away."
Getting started, Mikael describes as easy, and what surprised him most was how simple the system was to use combined with the real-time picture out on site.
"Absolutely. Plain and simple."
To other contractors handling large material flows without the right tools, the advice is simple: try Pinpointer. And asked whether he would use it again, the answer is clear.
"Absolutely. You get the information straight away, you have it documented easily, and you see the fractions in real time — how much is leaving. It's good, plain and simple."
Summed up, in Mikael's own words about what creates the most value:
"Personally, it's seeing in real time what's happening — and that everything just flows."
