- Pinpointer for digital bulk material management and traceability
Lina Glad is environmental lead at Tyréns and has followed the remediation contract in Älmhult from the remedial design investigations through to today's on-site supervision. When it was time to choose a tool for the bulk material handling, she recommended Pinpointer to the contractor Svevia. Not because her assignment required it — but because she wanted to keep working digitally, transparently and with full traceability all the way through.
From remedial design investigations to environmental supervisor in the field
Tyréns' role in the Älmhult project started with remedial design investigations and the choice of remediation approach. When the Swedish Transport Administration wanted to keep the climate footprint low and look for alternatives to traditional excavation remediation, pilot trials were also part of the assignment. Tyréns produced the tender documents for procuring the construction contractor.
Today, in the build phase, Lina is the environmental supervisor — the one who follows up that the masses are handled as planned.
The consultant you can be — and the one you're forced to be
For an environmental consultant who doesn't hold all the data themselves, mass follow-up easily turns into admin work. When Tyréns hasn't designed the mass handling themselves, they have to gather other consultants' raw data files: lab analyses, field notes, coordinates. That can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a full week depending on the data quality.

"It costs a huge amount of time and money, completely unnecessarily. Instead of being the consultant I can be, I sit and do admin."
The same principle all the way: digital traceability and full transparency
Tyréns had been involved from the project's start and worked digitally already during the remedial design investigations. The client could check in on the work in real time. No data was lost along the way. When it was time to pick a system for the mass handling, Lina wanted to keep the same principle: digital traceability, full transparency, minimal admin.
"I believe in digital traceability. It matches how I want to work. I like full transparency."
The client had trusted Tyréns from before — "we had served them new ways of working all along the route", as Lina puts it. The proposal therefore went through without resistance. And for Lina personally, Pinpointer was a tool she could recommend without hesitation.
"I only recommend tools I can put my own name behind. That made me confident with Pinpointer."
Not a final reconciliation — daily insight
Previously Lina saw mass data only at the end — and even then she often had to chase the contractors for it. Today she can drop in and look any time.
"Before, I only saw the documentation at the end — and barely that. It used to be chasing the contractors to get data. Now I can look whenever I want."
Remedial design investigations
Tyréns started the assignment with investigations and the choice of remediation approach — digital work from day one.

Pinpointer recommended to the contractor
When it was time to choose a tool for the bulk material handling, Lina recommended Pinpointer to Svevia.
Environmental supervisor on site
In the build phase Lina follows up that the masses are handled as planned — and can check in any time, in real time.
The deviation showed up the same day — not months later
Midway through the project, Lina noticed that the volume of masses containing invasive alien species was suddenly growing beyond plan. In earlier projects, that kind of deviation would only have been spotted months later, at the final reconciliation.
Now she saw it directly in Pinpointer. A call with Svevia the same day explained the whole picture — the masses required different handling than the original plan because of invasive species. The documentation was already there, load by load.
"It's very credible. If inspection or audit asks for documentation, it's there."
Adviser — not a collector of receipts
With the admin automated, Lina gets to be the consultant she's meant to be: an adviser, not someone collating receipts. That's the whole point — the consultant's value lies in judgement, not in the paperwork around it.
"It makes the job smoother. I can let go of the admin grind and focus on what's actually fun and meaningful."
Time for advice, not admin
The consultant's value lies in judgement — not in collecting other consultants' raw data files after the fact.
Real-time insight
Tyréns can drop in whenever, instead of chasing the contractor for documentation.
Documentation that holds up to scrutiny
Documented load by load — it's there the day inspection or audit asks for it.
Deviations caught immediately
When the volume of invasive-species soil grew beyond plan, it showed up the same day — not at the final reconciliation months later.
There are better ways
Lina recommends Pinpointer going forward too — in coming projects and to colleagues in the industry.
"There are better ways. I like the feeling of not missing anything."
"You get better control and need to spend less time on admin. It's a relief to know you're not missing anything."
Are you a consultant who wants to work this way?
We're happy to show how Pinpointer lets you sell expertise instead of losing time to admin — in your own projects.
